I love Serendipity....it's better than Karma! Today, I met another roaster who shares the same views of roasting as I do...namely, people deserve FRESH ROASTED COFFEE! Not roasted until its ordered and delivered fresh to the customer. Enter Emperor Norton's Coffee (emperornortonscoffee.com) Great minds think alike!
I have been looking for another roaster to add to my operation as roasting orders continue to increase. We have benchmarked on the Sono Fresco Air Roaster which is truly an amazing way to roast coffee. It's an air roaster and all of us who like air roasting, including Emperor Nortons Coffee believe that the air technique is kinder to the bean due to the fact that the bean is roasted in a hot bed of air not being scorched as drum roasters, when not cleaned properly, can do. No folks, this is not a diatribe against the drum roaster...I have lots of experience on them too but the air roaster imparts qualities which we feel lends itself to a properly roasted bean profile very consistently. If you do want to see an excellent drum roaster visit coffeeper.com and say hi to Bill Kennedy!
Look for continued reports on our association and workings with Emperor Norton's Coffee. The time has come to form a consortium of Artisan Roasters. The more linkage we can provide via fresh roasted coffee and education, the more benefit to you. What is missing in the coffee equation today is that customers do not really have a place to turn for education if they so desire it. Sweet Maria's, sweetmarias.com has done an excellent job in the Bay Area and we salute their efforts, contributions and existence for supporting the home roasting movement.

Regardless of your geographical region....this is the power of the Artisan Coffee Cooperative!
